What Michigan Car Insurance Companies Hope You’ll Never Find Out I live in Michigan, where there is no-fault insurance. I very recently rear ended a car and there was absolutely no damage to either parties (well a few scratches on my car but that’s not what matters). The woman in the car was like “ooh we have to call the police and I need to file a report” and I thought, “^&#*$#, there’s no damage at all!”
Either way, she filed an accident report which even confused the police officer since there was absolutely NO damage to her automobile. I was given a ticket for ‘FAILED TO STOP WITHIN ASSURED CLEAR DISTANCE’ and now I feel terrible. My parents pay my car insurance, and I never drive the car because I go to college across the state (I’m back on break right now). They can’t drop me on the insurance though since I need the car to work over the summer. I took the plate off my car and put it on my minivan to go pick up my stepson from school. I got pulled over because a cop pulled up behind me and ran my plate for nothing better to do. I did nothing wrong. Anyways, my fault for switching the plate I should’ve taken the car, but its tranny dropped a fews days ago and no work. So he cited me for improper plate, no proof of registration and no proof of insurance. Although, I do have ins. o the van and its registered. I just had transferred the plate over to the car because I was driving the car. I was going to drive the car but the tranny dropped so I couldn’t. I was going transfer plate but had to pick up stepson first. I was wondering what does a Michigan court plea down to on an improper plate misdemeanor and if I can go to the magistrates office in my county and show proof of ins.and registration and will it be thrown out? Oh, stupid stupid mistakes. Any info would help. Thank- you
